Ronja Rabbit (March 2021)

Art, creatures, Sculptures

Hello everyone,
I am finally back with getting this website up to my latest (and todays) art life!

At the end of 2020 and the beginning of 2021, I began a unique warm-up exercise during my weekly art lessons. The inspiring artist Sandra Baker-Finn, who guided me in this journey, has an extraordinary talent for finding art in the most unexpected places—whether it’s in bottle caps, broken perfume bottles, or even the insides of toilet paper rolls!

To cultivate my intuition, we developed a technique where I would select various items from a “rubbish drawer” and place them in a box. Then, without looking or overthinking, I’d randomly pick pieces from this collection. Using these little treasures, I brought to life a series of whimsical creatures.

One standout creation from this project is Ronja the Rabbit, the largest and most detailed of my little creatures. Crafted from an old, broken lamp, a quirky plastic egg, and the innards of plaster rolls from the drugstore, Ronja quickly became a labor of love.

I truly fell for her charm! To this day, she resides in my family’s cozy corridor, a reminder of the magic that can be found in the everyday.

Ancestral Gallery: Lena (2021)

Art, oil painting, Painting

When we were kids, my sister and I had two rabbits. Lars and Lena. After some years Lena sadly passed away and we got Lilly.

As a birthday present I painted Lilly ( I can’t quite remember, whom it was a present for) but my mom thought the painting looked like belongs in an Ancestral Gallery. I loved the idea and over time I painted the other two rabbits. Now we have this Ancestral Gallery in my parents corridor and the only one still missing is Maja, the Labrador I grew up with.

Here you can see the painting for Lena. I love how I can notice that I did improve with oil colors by painting the three cuties.

Funfact: My sister wanted to have a little brother named Lars instead of a sister (me) and was rather disappointed when she couldn’t give me that name. Since she was a big fan of “Lars der kleine Eisbär” she picked out Lars when he was a baby, since he is completely white.

The story is about a small polar bear that also has a snow rabbit friend: Lena. In the story, Lena looks exactly like the rabbit I picked out. That’s how we found both of the names for our little rabbits.

Rabbit mask pt. 2

Art, character, Faces, Masks, masks

so here you can see how she turned out. I’m really happy with that mask. Especially because I haven’t done one in over three years. So the whole mask is made of plaster, modelling paste and then painted with acrylics. the ears are made of some really stable but light material. I put middle thick wire at the sides, so that I can bend them and that they are even more stable. Afterwards I painted some shadows with chalk. I wanted to blood at the top of her head to shine so I put some ind of clear vanish over it.
